The National Monuments Service's description
A stone-built souterrain passage, aligned N-S, was reputedly discovered at this location in the woods surrounding Darrynane House (local information). It was blocked up in 1990, and now lies beneath a trackway. A second souterrain (KE106-136----) is reputed to lie W of the Lodge House in the woods, but its exact location could not be identified. Neither site is marked on the OS maps.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 870. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
