The National Monuments Service's description
Located on a flat terrace, overlooking Darrynane Harbour to S, this subcircular site is enclosed by a much denuded and overgrown wall, a large section of which is levelled at N. Elsewhere the 1.5m wide wall is faced internally with upright slabs and externally with horizontally coursed block-like slabs. The enclosed area measures 16.4m N-S x 17m E-W. A .85m wide entrance is located at E and is flanked on both sides by two slabs which average .75m high and .9m wide. A cluster of loose slabs and some low mounds of stone occur in the S half of the site. The N half appears to have been cleared.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 1003. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
