The National Monuments Service's description
Cromlech: Located on a level platform on the upper slopes of the spur of Farraniaragh mountain, this small tomb is largely collapsed. The S side of its gallery is represented by two side-stones, the upper edges of which slope downwards to E. Two small buttress or packing stones occur outside these. A single side-stone at N lies prostrate. The roof-stone, now collapsed, measures 2.7m long (de Valera and Ó Nuallain 1982, 67).
Windele, in 1848, referred to this site as 'Board'een' (Bord Eoghain Fhinn) or 'Fingal's Table' (RIA MS 12 C 11). Alternative names applied to it are 'The Table' and Carraig Shíomais, and it is unclear whether the names Cloch an Arruig and Clochán an Fhiolair are connected with the monument (Ó Ciobháin 1984a, 41, 46)
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 79. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
