The National Monuments Service's description
In rough hill pasture, in a col, on a ridge to the E of Derrynacaheragh Hill. The remains of stone walls protrude intermittently above the surface of the bog and indicate a network of relict field walls throughout an area measuring c. 400m E-W x c. 400m N-S. A typical stretch of wall (T 0.6m; H 0.5m) extends in a S direction from a cairn (KE102-063002-) for a distance of c. 90m, occasionally dipping beneath the bog surface. The base of the wall appears to be laid on the clay soil beneath the peat. Stones from the collapsed upper courses are embedded in the bog. There are two cairns (KE102-063002-, KE102-063007-), two hut sites (KE102-063004-, KE102-063005-), a fulacht fia (KE102-063003-) and an enclosure (KE102-063006-) within this network of field walls.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
