The National Monuments Service's description

Killeen Burial Ground: This site is located at the S end of Rossmore Island and commands a lengthy view along Kenmare Bay. It was described in the OSRNB as a burial ground used for the 'interment of unbaptized children', though adults are locally reputed to have been buried here also (Ó Cíobháín 1984b, 91). It consists of a circular enclosure which is defined by a poorly preserved, overgrown, drystone-faced wall. This is most clearly visible at NW, where it measures .3m high and 1.6m wide. Loose stone is scattered throughout the interior of the site, and a series of upright grave-markers arranged in N-S rows, occur in its SE quadrant. These average .5m high.

The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 1040. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
