The National Monuments Service's description
A souterrain, not marked on the OS maps, is locally reputed to exist at this location. Its entrance was apparently filled in and planted with holly trees many years ago. The site is now marked by a heavily overgrown depression, 3m x 1.5m, located in pasture near the S bank of the Owreagh river.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 872. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
