The National Monuments Service's description

In wooded valley, on W bank of Finnihy River c. 2km NNW of Kenmare town. A rectangular two-storey structure, with the front (SE-facing) of five bays, appears to be the mill structure indicated on the 1846 and 1895 OS 6-inch maps. It is constructed of random rubble with dressed quoins; some of the quoins on the SW corner are reused broken quern-stones suggesting that there may have been a grain mill on the site before the present structure. The windows and door have been modernised but some brick is visible in the surrounds of the windows at rear. The roof is gabled with a chimney on each gable. The structure was restored and converted for private residential use shortly after the mill, by then a woollen mill, shut down in the 1970s. The occupant recalls that the wheel-pit originally occupied the NE end of the building and that a mill race fed it from the N as indicated on 1846 OS 6-inch map. A second two-storey structure to the SW of, and at right angles to, the one described is not indicated on the 1846 OS 6-inch map and is probably of more recent date; the two structures are now joined by a modern glass-walled extension.
