The National Monuments Service's description
In rough pasture, on a hillside overlooking the valley of the Sheen River to the SW. A roughly circular area (14m E-W; 12m N-S) defined by the remains of a drystone wall (Wth c. 1m; H 0.8m) constructed of large stones. The NE arc is cut into the upslope and the wall here consists of a number of contiguous upright stone slabs. Many wall stones are embedded in shallow peat and partially grassed over. There is a possible entrance at W. The SW portion of the interior is raised to compensate for the hillslope. Loose stones, partially overgrown with ferns, were noted in the S sector. The enclosure is clearly visible on an aerial photograph (GSIAP, V 99-100) taken in 1973. Relict field boundaries (KE093-054003-) abut the enclosure at N and SSW and radiate from it. Two hut sites (KE093-054001-, KE09-054002-) abut the enclosure wall at E, another hut site (KE093-054004-) is 25m to the NNW. There is a fulacht fia (KE093-054006-) in the immediate area.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
