The National Monuments Service's description
This denuded stone enclosure is located in marshy land onthe NE slopes of Knockanaskill, overlooking Kenmare Bay to S. Not marked on the OS maps, the site measures 18.5m N-S x 20m E-W in overall dimensions and the roughly circular enclosing stone wall is much collapsed and overgrown. Stretches of external stone facing can be traced around the W half of the site, and horizontal courses of large flat slabs survive to a height of .4m at NW. The inner wall-face is completely obscured by overgrowth. A gap at SE may indicate the location of the original entrance which is marked on its N side by an upright slab, .75m high. A concentration of stone collapse in the SW quadrant of the interior of the enclosure may represent the remnants of a hut (KE092-015001-).
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 767. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
