The National Monuments Service's description
The townland name, translated as ‘knoll of the standing stone’ (OSNB Kilcrohane, 17), indicates the former presence of a standing stone here. The IFC Schools’ Collection recorded the presence of an upright gallán at Doirín a Coirce. The location of this place has not been identified, and the stone is not remembered locally.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 248. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
