The National Monuments Service's description

Not marked on the OS maps, this site is known locally as a ceallúnach. It is located in pasture and overlooks the Emlaghmore river valley and Ballinskelligs Bay to SE. It is bisected by a N-S field boundary and no apparent remains are preserved on its W side. The enclosmg bank E of the boundary is drystone faced internally and externally, averages 1.3m wide and stands to a maximum external height of .5m. The extant portion of the site has an internal diameter of 16.5m N-S and contains an area, 12m N-S x 7m E-W, of neatly arranged rows of upright slabs. A low L-shaped bank, 6.4m long, occurs immediately W of this area and may represent part of the foundations of a building.
A souterrain is located on the W side of the field boundary, just S of the probable limits of the enclosure. Its S facing lintelled ope measures .65m x .25m and gives access to a lintelled passage with sides of earth which extends to N. Access to the souterrain was not possible.

The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 989. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
