The National Monuments Service's description
This inaccessible souterrain, not marked on the OS maps, is situated on the fairly steep slopes of Knocknaskereighta mountain overlooking Ballinskelligs Bay to S. Its entrance was blocked in the early 1960s and the souterrain is described locally as being of drystone construction.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 867. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
