The National Monuments Service's description
This standing stone is located on gently sloping pastureland about 200m from the present limits of Emlagh bog, Valencia Island. It is irregular in basal plan, measuring 1.44m x .75m in maximum dimensions; E-W. It tapers slightly in width towards the top, and stands to a maximum height of 1.1m. The site is not marked on the OS maps, and is locally referred to as a 'gallaun'.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 150. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
