The National Monuments Service's description
On a terrace in the S-facing slopes of Knockleama. This field system, which covers an area measuring 700m N-S x 1300m E-W, consists of relict stone walls (Wth c. 0.6m; H c. 0.4m) which survive to one or two courses high. The walls are mainly curvilinear and protrude above the surface of the bog. There are many gaps in the walls and occasionally the walls disappear into deeper bog. In many instances the junction of the boundaries are walled off to form corner enclosures. The remains of the walls suggest a layout of fields of varying shapes and sizes as are visible in an aerial photograph (GSIAP, V 298-297) taken in 1973. There is a cairn (KE083-023014-), ten enclosures (KE083-023001-, KE083-023003-, KE083-023004-, KE083-023005-, KE083-023016, KE083-023018-, KE083-023019-, KE083-023022-, KE083-023023-, KE083-023024-), twelve hut sites (KE083-023006-, KE083-023007-, KE083-023008-, KE083-023012-, KE083-023013-, KE083-023015-, KE083-023017-, KE083-023021-, KE083-023024-, KE083-0230025-, KE083-023032-, KE083-023033-), three possible hut sites (KE083-023009-, KE083-023010-, KE083-023011-), four fulachtaí fia (KE083-023026-, KE083-023027, KE083-023028-, KE083-023030-) and two possible fulachtaí fia (KE083-023029-, KE083-023031-) scattered throughout this field system.
