The National Monuments Service's description

Two 'Gallauns' are marked on the first edition of the OS map at this location, but on the second edition only one is indicated. The site is located in rough, boggy pasture, E of the Kealafreaghane river. A low, broad slab, it stands 1.54m high and measures 1.77m x .35m at base.

The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 129. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
