The National Monuments Service's description
Cloghaun/Clochán: On a slight rise in rough pasture on the SE slopes of Bentee, c. 20m SW of a caher (KE079-090001-). The overgrown foundations of a pair of circular, conjoined huts of corbelled drystone construction. A basal row of thin slabs flanks the inner face.
The hut at S KE079-131----, 5m x 4.2m, has an independent entrance, 1.3m wide, at E; an upright in its N wall indicates the probable location of the communicating passage. The N hut KE079-131001-measures 4.8m x 3.7m internally.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 1324. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
