The National Monuments Service's description
Killeennamoyla Burial Ground/Cillín na Maoile (KE072-012----) is located in poorly drained land on the floor of the Bridia valley.
It comprises an enclosure of approximately circular plan which is defined by a bank and external fosse. The enclosed area measures 35.5m N-S x 35.7m E-W. The construction of a modern stone wall at W has resulted in the partial infilling of the fosse here; elsewhere it survives up to .75m deep and 3.15m wide. The largely overgrown bank rises 1m from the base of the fosse, and falls an average of .5m to the interior of the site. There is a 2.2m wide entrance gap in the bank at N, on either side of which rough stone facing is preserved externally for c. 4.5m.
The interior of the site is largely overgrown and slopes slightly up towards N. Located in a rather stony area at E is a small cairn, .7m high and 3m in diameter, and a low stretch of wall. This runs NE-SW and measures 6m long and .9m wide. A number of small uninscribed upright slabs also occur in this quadrant.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 1037. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
