The National Monuments Service's description
Internal diam. 21.5m N-S, 23m E-W
Situated a short distance E of KE070-029---- and on the opposite bank of the Ferta river, this much disturbed univallate rath is located in rough grazing land on a fairly steep N facing slope. There is no trace of a fosse and the bank has a maximum external height of 1.85m at N. Only in the SE sector does it rise above the level of the interior of the site; here it reaches a maximum height of 1.45m and has a basal width of 3.1m. Eroded gaps occur in the bank at NW, NE and SE, but the gap at S, 1.1m wide, may mark the location of the original entrance. A stony mound with a central depression is located in the SW quadrant of the rath's interior. It measures 6m x 4.65m in overall dimensions and may represent the remnants of a hut (KE070-030001-).
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 497. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
