The National Monuments Service's description
In the 1840s a 'Cavern' in a rock at the summit of a high mountain was recorded in the W end of the townland (OSNB, Kilcummin, no. 3, 43). It was described as '70 links [14.08m] in length, 30 links [6.01m] high and 22 [4.42m] broad; it derives its name from a man of the name of Shera, who formerly lived in it' (ibid.). Its precise location is not known and it is possible that it is in that part of the townland on OS 6-inch map 76.
