The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on the lower N-facing slopes of The Paps of Dana. This cashel has been levelled and it is evident as a slightly raised roughly circular area (20m N-S; c. 20m E-W) defined by a low rise except along the S arc where a linear E-W field boundary exists. The field boundary bulges where it abuts the interior and may incorporate remains of the enclosing element. A stone-faced recess (2.4m E-W; projecting 1.4m to the S) was noted at SW in the N side of the field boundary. According to local information, this rath is known as 'Cathairín an Ghrafaigh'. In the 1940s it was recorded that 'Cathairín an Ghrafaigh situated about a quarter of a mile from The City [KE068-022001-] … is almost obliterated. The whole structure has been covered over by earth. A slight ridge on the surface is the only indication of its size c. 50 feet [c. 15m].' (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry). It is indicated on the 1846 OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) and on the 1894 OS 6-inch map a circular area (diam. c. 20m) is defined by a solid line. There are possible souterrains (KE068-034001-) in the interior.
