The National Monuments Service's description

In the 1940s a 'huge rath', which was 'impossible to explore due to overgrowth', was recorded at the summit of an earthen mound on the 'lands of Mrs. McCarthy' (ITA). It has not been precisely located. It may be one of the two raths (see KE066-061----) recorded in the 1840s as being in the S side of this townland (OSNB, Aghadoe, no. 1, 21). A souterrain (KE066-089001-) and a well (KE066-089002-) are associated with the rath.
