The National Monuments Service's description
Internal diam. 37.7m N-S, 36m E-W
Situated on the lower NE facing slopes of Ardfergus Hill, this poorly preserved univallate rath is heavily overgrown. The enclosing bank is somewhat defaced, averaging 1.1m high and 1.5m in basal width. It is best preserved at NE,where it stands 1.55m high and has a basal width of 2m. On average the bank rises 1m above the interior of the site, which slopes down markedly to E. No definite entrance is discernible.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 493. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
