The National Monuments Service's description
Internal diam. 36.5m N-S, 36.6m E-W
This circular univallate rath is located in undulating pastureland a short distance W of the Glasheenasheefree river. The enclosing bank, largely of earthen construction, is best preserved at W where it rises 2.5m above the base of the external fosse. Elsewhere it averages 1.6m high and 2.3m in basal width. An entrance, 2.4m wide, occurs at E. The surrounding fosse survives best at W and NW, where it measures up to 2.8m wide and 1m deep. Elsewhere it has been largely infilled. The level interior of the rath is featureless.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 523. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
