The National Monuments Service's description
A thin slab of carved limestone (0.4m x 0.29m; T 0.07m) was discovered in the chimney breast of a cottage when the cottage was demolished; the slab was later used as the pivot stone for a gate. The stone is damaged but enough survives to show it was the end-stone in a flat-arched fireplace mantle. The decoration consists of a shallow recessed panel with ovolo borders, outlining the L-shape of the stone. There is a roll on the inside edge of the angle. The style is late16th/early 17th-century in date and it probably came from a tower house or a fortified house though none survive in the area where the stone was discovered. It is now in private ownership.
