The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, on a hillock in undulating countryside. A circular area (37m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4.85m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.6m) SW-SE and by a scarp (H 1.3m) SE-SW. The bank is denuded in places by cattle but elsewhere it is covered by overgrowth. It contains numerous cattle gaps. The interior is level and slightly higher than the external ground level. There is a slight mound (c. 3m x 2m) in the SW quadrant. Some concrete fence posts are set into the bank at the NW and in the interior, to the SW of the centre. Field boundaries radiate from the bank externally at NE and SE. This is probably the 'handsome' rath, which was referred to as 'nearly in the centre' of the townland, in the 1840s (OSNB, Kilcummin, no. 3, 16).
