The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on a S-facing slope. In the 1940s a bronze shears (L c. 0.18m) was discovered during turf cutting at the base of an 'old drain' which was located at a point 'just below the bottom level of the peat' (O'Kelly 1946, 65). O'Kelly suggests that the shears was knocked out from a higher level and dropped down to the point where it was found, when the drain was being dug (ibid.). The presence of the drain is indicative of a prebog field system, the extent of which is not known. There are no visible remains of the drain and the field in which it was discovered has been reclaimed.
