The National Monuments Service's description
Large boulder with rock scribing visible on the west facing surface that was discovered in the townland of Tinnahally (Tigh an hAille/Cliff House), parish of Killorglin (Cill Orglan), barony of Trughanacmy (Triúcha an Aicme), Co. Kerry (Ciarraí), by Anna Kennelly. The boulder is located on the NW side of a field boundary running roughly E-W which forms the S boundary of a cottage located 50m to the N. The top of the boulder has incised lines running along the edge of the stone in the manner of an Ogham inscription, but these shallow lines are not Ogham script. It has been suggested that these incised lines running along the top edge of the boulder are a form of Pseudo Ogham and may have been cut into the surface of the stone in an attempt to convince antiquarians that this boulder was a genuine Ogham Stone (pers. comm. Fionnbarr Moore, Senior Archaeologist, NMS). There are other markings on the broad W face some of which may be traces of X marks but these are difficult to identify. A 3D model of the boulder and its markings can be seen at https://skfb.ly/pBxzC .
