The National Monuments Service's description
Internal diam. 28.4m N-S, 19m E-W
Lisnatelimy/Lios na bhFeidhlimí: This well-preserved bivallate rath is located on level pasture, W of the Cottoners river and directly S of Killorglin town. The outer bank is extant only along the N sector, where it measures 1.6m high externally, 1.75m wide and falls 2m to the bottom of the 3.5m wide fosse. Along the S half of the site the fosse appears only as a shallow depression, above which the inner bank rises to an average height of 4m. This flat-topped bank has an average basal width of 6m and falls a maximum of 2m to the site's level interior. A causeway, c. 3m wide, traverses the banks and fosse at N; its E side is defined by a low bank. A number of anomalous banks and mounds occur outside the entrance. A gap in the bank at S appears to be of recent origin.
The sod-covered remnants of two possibly conjoined circular huts occur towards the centre of the site's oval-shaped interior. The N hut (KE056-041001-) has internal dimensions of 3.4m x 1.8m, and its wall footings survive .2m high and 1.35m wide. A short stretch of curved walling is all that remains of the adjoining S hut (KE056-041002-).
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 538. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
