The National Monuments Service's description
Internal diam. 31.5m N-S, 23.2m E-W
Lismoyle/Lios Maol: This rath is located close to a sharp bend of the Laune river, in the NW corner of a large undulating field devoted to pasture. The enclosing earthen bank has a maximum external height at W of 1.6m and is 1.75m wide. It features some large stones in its base, and is overlain by the remnants of a field boundary. It falls 1.15m to a level, though apparently featureless, interior. A 1m wide gap in the enclosing element at SW may mark the sites's original entrance.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 463. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
