The National Monuments Service's description
Numerous shell middens were apparently formerly visible in the sand-dunes about two-thirds of the way S down the Inch peninsula, c. 2 miles (3.2km) from its base (NMI). These may now have been covered by wind-blown sand, and none were located on this occasion.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 17. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
