Parknacrusha/Páirc na Croise: This field derives its name from the presence within it of a stone cross and a cross-inscribed stone, now missing. The stone cross KE052-283001- lies loose on a cairn of stones, 4m x 5m x 1m in height, which may simply be an accumulation of field clearance debris.
The missing cross-inscribed stone KE052-283002- was a large prostrate slab, 1.6 x .76m, which lay against the nearby field fence. One face was inscribed with a cross with expanded terminals (Macalister 1899, 218-9; Windele 1848, 473; Curran no. 1)
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 859. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
