The National Monuments Service's description
KE052-050---- was marked on the 2nd edition of the OS map as a rectangular enclosure with a souterrain, known as the Red Cave, at its NW corner.
The entrance to the souterrain was located at its centre. It was said to link up with another ringfort on the S boundary of the townland (KE053-001----).
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 651. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
