The National Monuments Service's description

Internal diam. 25m N-S, 22m E-W
Though not marked on the 2nd edition of the OS map, this rath is still extant. It is situated amongst the sand banks behind Ventry Harbour, on a slight E facing slope. Rabbit burrows have considerably disturbed the site which is enclosed by an earthen bank, a possible fosse and a 2nd outer bank. The latter is very low and is present along the N half of the enclosure only. The fosse is c. 8m wide and is also present only on the N side of the site. The inner bank is a maximum of 1.5m high externally and ranges from less than .4m to .75m in height internally. It is not clear which of the 3 breaks in the bank represents the original entrance, but the 2.4m wide gap at NW appears to be most likely.

The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 534. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
