The National Monuments Service's description
A small barren spot, located about 6 chains (120m) E of Caherlea (KE052-030----), was said to be an old burial ground (OSNB Ventry, 32). It was about 1.5 chains (30m) in diameter. The N border of the field to E of the cashel consists of stony waste ground and it is possible that it was here that the burial ground was located. However, no visible trace survives. The adjacent field to SE is unusually sub-circular in outline but its diameter (95m) is much larger than the stated dimensions of the burial ground and it contains no features of interest.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 879. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
