The National Monuments Service's description
Traces of a large number of structures survive at the SW end of the Great Blasket island, almost 3 miles from the village and harbour. Some of the structures are undoubtedly sheep-folds and shelters, but 14 can be interpreted as hut sites or possible hut sites. They were known by the islanders as Na Clocháin Gheala (Flower 1944, 25).
The northernmost group of huts, occupying an area about 50 metres square, consists of 5 structures (KE051-007----, KE051-007001-, KE051-007002-, KE051-007003- and KE051-007004-). KE051-007----: A possible hut site marked by a small terrace on the hillslope with slight traces of drystone walling.
KE051-007001-: A little downslope and to SE of the latter site is a subrectangular hollow cut back into the hillslope and defined on its downslope side by a low stony bank. D: 11.3 x 6m.
KE051-007002-: A little to SW of the latter site is a hut site marked by an oval hollow, its downhill side enclosed by a low stony bank, with a short section of the inner wall face standing to a height of c. 0.5m. D: c. 3.25m.
KE051-007003-: About 3.5m to NW of the previous site, are the remains of a circular corbelled drystone hut. D: 3m. H: 1m. A rectangular hollow outside the wall may mark the site of a subterranean passage (KE051-007006-).
KE051-007004-: A little to SW of the previous site. Fragmentary remains of a circular hut site with a 2nd possible foundation (KE051-007005-) directly to SSE of it.
