The National Monuments Service's description

In 1758, Pococke's tour of Kerry recorded that he had passed by a 'Castle call'd, if I do not mistake Agha tubrid [Aghatubrid] & afterwards passing a bog on a causeway we had the Castle of Cappagh I think to the right & a most glorious prospect of the Island & harbour of Valentia' (Ó Maidín 1959, 38). The precise location of Cappagh Castle has not been identified.
