The National Monuments Service's description

Fohernanalbanagh Fort/Fothrach na nAlbanach: On the 1st edition of the OS map this site was shown as a roughly circular, univallate enclosure (KE044-073----).

Three rectangular buildings were ranged parallel to each other in an E-W row on the N side of the site, apparently abutting the outer edge of the enclosing bank or wall. In the OSM these were described as 'ruins... nearly level to the ground' and about 50 links (10m) long. The site is now marked only by a relatively level area in an otherwise sloping field on the lower S slopes of Croaghskearda.

The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 700. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
