The National Monuments Service's description
There is some confusion as to the location of these graves. They were discovered when a new road was being built and Windele (1848, 422) placed their position in Knockavrogeen. Almost a century later An Seabhac (1939, 122) identified the find spot as the sharp bend in the road at Coumgagh. Windele described them as 5 or 6 in number, constructed of side- and end-flags and containing skulls and other bones. They lay about 3 feet (.9m) below the surface.
