The National Monuments Service's description
'Dingle Town O.S. 43. One of the oldest of the Kerry works, iron being mined in 1600. An old Dingle tradesman's token bore the inscription 'Toby Creane, Dingell-y-Cushe Iron Worke'. Two new furnaces and a forge erected 1707.'
