Standing stone - pair

Two stones, one standing and the other prostrate, are located on gently sloping, rough pastureland at the foot of Knockmoylemore and Croaghskearda, c. 100m W of a small stream that flows S towards Trabeg. The SW stone is 2.2m high, 1.92m wide and a maximum of .6m thick; it inclines heavily to S. Lying 2.3m to NE, the prostrate slab measures 2.8m x 1.9m x a maximum of .75m thick. At the W edge of its upper surface is what appears to be a cup-mark, 6 to 7cm in diameter and 1 to 1.5cm deep.
The sub-rectangular 'Cloghane' marked on the OS Fair Plan, about 9m to N, is now represented by a raised, stony platform, 7.5m x 10.3m x a maximum of .4m high. A setting of 3 low stones form a kerb along the SE edge, and in the W sector are the ruined remains of a crudely-constructed, rectangular, drystone-walled 'pen', 2m x 2m. The available evidence is insufficient to allow classification of this feature though it is unlikely to be associated with the standing stones.
