The National Monuments Service's description
This is one of a group of 2 or possibly 3 (KE042-147---- and KE042-139----) similar monuments on the S slopes of an E-W spur of Lateevemore, overlooking Ventry Harbour. A low, roughly circular mound, measuring 7.7m N-S and 8.1m E-W, is surrounded by a fosse, 1 to 2m in width, and an external bank, the overall diameter being c. 16m. Due to its position on a sloping hillside, the bank rises only .15 to .2m externally on the N side, but reaches a maximum height of .6m on the downslope side; internally the bank height varies from .3m to 1m. The central mound rises a maximum of .6m above the fosse. Access to the interior is by means of 2 opposed entrances to E and W, the E gap now 5 to 6m wide due to disturbance. The W gap is more clearly defined, with a single course of stones, .1m high, lining its S edge. In the vicinity of the E gap the fosse is almost non-existent, possibly indicating a causeway, while to W the fosse is only a few cms in depth. There is a slight trace of possible stone revetting to the external face of the bank at NW.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 250. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
