The National Monuments Service's description
On the E slopes of Croaghmarhin, overlooking the crescent of low-lying land that surrounds Smerwick Harbour. This stone stands 2.38m high and measures 1.4m x .44m at base. It is roughly rectangular both in plan and elevation though it tapers to a rounded point at top; NNE-SSW.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 83. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
