The National Monuments Service's description
Killeenloumluskaun/Tor an Chilliń: This burial ground lies within 50m of the sea at the base of Derrymore island, a low spit which projects N into Tralee Bay. It consists of a long, narrow, sub-oval area enclosed to N by the straight road boundary fence and to S by a low narrow bank which curves to almost meet the wall at either end. The interior measures 54m E-W x a maximum of 12.5m N-S and the bank is a maximum of .95m high. A few stones are exposed on the surface of the bank but an earlier description of the site as 'a mound of small stones' (OSNB Annagh, 15) does not correspond with the present remains. The enclosure is divided into 2 unequal portions by a NNW-SSE field wall and its E end appears to have been truncated in modern times; on the 2nd edition of the OS map, this end is shown to continue considerably further E than it does at present. Children were still being buried here in the early 19th century (OSNB).
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 895. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
