The National Monuments Service's description

In 1841 John O'Donovan (OSL) recorded the existence of a castle here; no trace of the castle survived then and its exact location is unknown.

The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 1004. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
