The National Monuments Service's description

Caherbaun/An Chathair Bhán: Roughly circular cashel KE036-034---- is situated on a N facing slope near the foot of the mountain ridge overlooking Tralee Bay.

The Co. Kerry Field Club (1945, 646-7; 1946, 657; 1953) recorded a number of huts or chambers contained within the thickness of the enclosing wall. One (KE036-034003-) which had been destroyed when the W wall was removed was described to them as circular, corbelled and about 5 feet (c. 1.5m) in diameter.

The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 565. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
