The National Monuments Service's description
Fermoyle Castle: There are no visible remains of this castle which was situated a short distance NE of Fermoyle House. During the construction of the latter, c. 1843, the partial foundations of a building, presumed to be the castle, were exposed (Hitchcock 1855, 356). The site lies near the seashore at the S side of Brandon Bay.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 1005. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
