The National Monuments Service's description
Relig Old Burial Ground/An Cheallúnach: This burial ground has been recently disturbed by the construction of a new house directly W of it, and its S half is now included in the garden of the latter. It is marked on the OS maps as a sub-rectangular enclosure and is described in the OSNB (Kilquane, 24) as measuring 2.25 chains (45m) x 1 chain (20m). Several graves were marked by large stones which now lie in the garden. Curran (no.1) declared that unbaptised children were not interred in the burial ground but the OSNB account does record a tradition of children's burial here. It lies in the low-lying area S of Ballydavid Head.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 887. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
