Tomb - chest tomb

The National Monuments Service's description

A 15th century Knights panel which is built into a rockery in the garden of the modern Dominican church in Tralee. It is presumably from the medieval Dominican friary (KE029-236001-).

Possible chest-tomb surround described by Hunt (1974, 153) as; 'In the garden of the Dominican Priory, is a
figure, perhaps from a tomb-front, of the type seen at Roscommon and at Dungiven, Co. Derry. It appears to represent a knight or gallowglass in a long aketon and w earing a pointed bascinet. He carries a shield on his left arm and holds a sword in the same hand. The sword has a large circular pommel and apparently a straight cross. The stone is so worn that the details are hard to distinguish. The figure is flanked by colonettes with multiple mouldings at the side and remains
of bases'.
