The National Monuments Service's description

On a visit to this townland in 1949 the Co. Kerry Field Club visited 'a small caher with a large beehive-shaped hut outside the wall'. They also visited 2 sites which they described as 'liosacháns'. This term is glossed by Dineen as 'fairy fort' and may refer to a small ringfort or cashel. The sites have not been located and local information suggests they have been levelled.

The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 727. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
