The National Monuments Service's description
This enclosure, a stone cashel according to Curran (no.1), was situated on the level, slightly marshy ground bordering Lough Gill at the base of the Magharees Peninsula. It survives only as a circular platform raised from .2 to 1m above the surrounding land and measuring c. 29.5m N-S and 26.5m E-W across its upper surface. Curran described an enclosing wall 16 feet (c. 4.9m) thick but no trace of this is now visible. He also noted traces of 2 hut-sites in the interior, one of which housed the entrance to a souterrain which he was informed consisted of several chambers. The location of the souterrain is shown on the OS maps and is now marked by a spread of stones and sea-shells extending over an area 9m x 6.8m.
